Citizenship and Naturalization
Naturalization is the process by which some foreign nationals may gain
U.S. citizenship. Some of the basic qualifications for naturalization are
that the foreign national must be a legal permanent resident, be at least
18 years of age, and have resided continuously in the United States for
five years after obtaining legal permanent residence. Persons who have
obtained legal permanent residency through marriage must have
resided continuously in the U.S. for three years.
